Muslim Students Association
The Muslim Students Association at Ohio University was established in 1977 and became a chapter of the MSA of the US & Canada. At that time, a house was bought to be used as a center to perform the different activities. The house was named "The Muslim House" and it included a small room for praying, an Islamic library, some bedrooms, and a big garden.
As the number of Muslim students increased at Ohio University, the small house became insufficient to perform the different religious and social activities. As a result, it was decided to demolish the house and establish a new building to accommodate the activities of all Muslim students. The new building, located on 13 Stewart Street, was completed in August 1986 and named the Islamic Center of Athens. It now includes a large religious area and different facilities to meet the various needs of the Muslim students on campus.
